I visited this business on 24th of July, 2016, in Penticton, BC, while on vacation from Ottawa, ON. I wanted to explore the town on bike and to support a local business. The employee on duty was very kind and helpful, however, unbeknownst to me was that the owner was somewhere in the back listening in on my conversation with the employee regarding renting a bicycle. Apparently, during the transaction, I must have asked too many questions about the bikes (?) and at one point the owner (tall, bald, white man) blew up in emotion and yelled at myself and my friend who was accompanying me, with profanities. He was raging and hostile exhibiting border-line assaultive behaviour, not at all what I was expecting from a business owner who I was just about to purchase a product from!

Pricey. No credit card or debit service. They want you to use their ATM machine ... $3.00 per transaction. Forgot to give my son's license back last year. $$ to replace that. Rented a stand up paddle board and the oar snapped very easily ... Charged us another $40 AND you guessed it -another $3 at ATM! After years of patronizing this place, I will not give them my business again.

We rented the bicycles. I saw the sign for $40 for all day, also next to it half day $30. So I was told to pay for the whole day. I thought if you returned the bikes before the half day mark you would get refunded the difference. I was told no you have to rent it between 1-5 to get that price. It does not state that on the sign for pricing. So be warned and don't get scammed like we did. If we would have looked at the reviews first I probably would not have done business here. After reading the reviews, I saw someone mentioned another place in town, we'll go there next time.

EDIT: I did not know this at the time of this incident but another place for bike rentals in Penticton, BC is the Hostel International located at 464 Ellis St. Happy cycling!

Seeing the way he was treating myself and my friend, I withdrew the transaction, took back my paperwork for the rental, and the owner told us "not to come back".

I am not sure why this happened or what makes someone do something like that with no provocation, but it is incredibly unprofessional and unbecoming of a business. I apologized to the employee for having to endure a boss like that, I hope he finds gainful employment somewhere else.

To be clear, I am an avid cyclist and I was quite excited to try out their bicycles. At home, I bike to and from work regularly and go on long trips out-of-town.
